So we went to the special dentist today and Daniel is going to need major dental work. He is going to need to have almost all of his teeth worked on and is going to be sedated for it. I am so nervous for this, it is something I haven’t been through and it makes me nervous for him to go through it. I am trying to be strong so he will not think that it’s scary but for me it’s so nerve-racking.
Have you been through this or do you know anyone who has?
Well, today is the big day it’s Daniel’s 4th birthday! I can’t believe how quickly he is growing up, it seems like just yesterday we brought him home from the hospital as that little bundle of joy. He was such a joy that day at 8lbs 9 ounces and he was so quiet and peaceful. And while he is not quiet any more, he is definitely still the joy of our lives. I can’t imagine our lives without having him with us. I am so excited to see what this upcoming year has in store and what we will be learning.
So as most of you know I am really involved in the Reno/Sparks Relay for Life, and I am very excited that I have been getting Daniel involved in it from such a young age. Tonight he went with me to a meeting we had and it was so much fun for him. I want him to go to stuff like this and learn how important it is to give to others and work hard toward something you feel passionate about.
Is there something that you have your child do that is like this?
So…yesterday when I got home from work Rory told me about Daniel’s day at preschool and he got his first kiss. When I asked him about it, he told me that he didn’t want to talk about it, typical man. 🙂 I asked him if this girl was his girlfriend, and he told me that he has a girlfriend already, one of my very good friends Kelli. I was sad to hear that my little boy is growing up so fast, but I know that it’s all just in good fun. I guess I should get used to the fact that my cute little boy is going to kiss lots of girls along the way.
Daniel is really in the stage where he wants to help me out with everything that I am doing. Tonight he wanted to help me make dinner. We were having steak and mashed potatoes so he got to help out. He washed the potatoes with me, put them in the pot, “painted” the oil onto the steaks, put salt and pepper on them, and even helped me mash the potatoes when they were done. He is at such a fun age where he really enjoys doing things with me.
What do your kids like to do with you?
I am very lucky to be close with my family not just in relationship, and in location. My brother and sister-in-law live within a mile of my house, and have a little girl who is just seven months younger than my son. Daniel and Cameron are best friends, just ask them they will tell you. I am so glad that my son is growing up so close with his cousins because I had the luck of growing up with my cousins who were almost like brothers.
Does your child have that special friend in their life?
So we have been working on the star chart for over a week now, and I am happy to say that for most of the areas we have asked Daniel to work on he has been pretty successful. He is going potty all by himself at all times and other than one night he has fed himself all his dinner.
One thing he isn’t doing well still is sleeping in his own bed all night and going to sleep by himself. He wants me to lay with him until he goes to sleep.
Any suggestions on getting him to go down without me?
